Rudrabhishek(रुद्राभिषेक)
Abhishek is a very important process which is performed by Hindus all over the world. Abhishek means to pour water, milk, honey, ghee, panchamrut etc on statues of god or goddess by reciting spells or mantras. It is a belief that it is the best way to please god or goddess.
Lord shiva is also called rudra and there is special strotram available which is used to perform abhishek of shivlinga and that abhishek is called "RUDRABHISHEK". Generally Rudra sukta or Rudram is used to perform rudrabhishek.
Generally sacred items are used in performing this shiv puja i.e. Cow milk, curd made by cow milk, ghee made by cow milk, honey, sugar-cane juice, different types of cereals, rice, wheat, black til, oils of different kinds, water from different sources etc. as per the need of devotee.
With this bel patra, flowers of aak also used to perform this puja.
